thank you for this scene eastenders
This scene is so important. Mick is a really likable character. He is an amazing father and a loving husband and generally awesome person supportive of his gay son and his gay sister and always defending his non-gender conforming daughter.
But when he spews some misogynistic bullshit at Rainie who is a prostitute and addict, his daughter feels utterly betrayed by his actions.
He isn’t perfect. He is a man. And he is capable of ugliness, ignorance and misogyny. Even though she loves him…he isn’t perfect.
And so she calls him out on it.
Misogyny is everywhere and our brothers, fathers, sons, lovers and friends are capable of it. No matter how much we would love to think they are ‘different’ they sometimes aren’t…and should NEVER be given a free pass just because we love them.
Most of the time in TV land it is the baddies who are sexist and called out on it. Hardly ever the good guys, who get a pass for what they say.

I’ve made a trifle. With any luck, he’ll choke on it.
